Jobs in PakistanJobs in United States Educational Foundation in PakistanAbout United States Educational Foundation in Pakistan The United States Educational Foundation in Pakistan was established in 1950 by the governments of Pakistan and the United States. USEFP is guided by a binational commission composed of an equal number of Pakistanis and Americans, the Chairman alternating each year between a Pakistani and an American.
USEFP is one of 51 "Fulbright Commissions" located throughout the world. Since 1951 when the first group of Pakistani grantees traveled to America, and 1952 when the first American grantees visited Pakistan, the Foundation has fostered mutual understanding between the people of Pakistan and the United States through educational and cultural exchange. It is estimated that over 1000 Pakistanis have already had the opportunity to participate in this Program.
The Foundation receives support and counsel from both the Pakistan and U.S. governments, but it is not an agency of either. The Foundation supervises a variety of programs that send Pakistani scholars to American campuses while bringing American scholars to universities in Pakistan. The goal of all our programs is to help Pakistanis learn more about the U.S. and to help Americans learn more about Pakistan and its people.
People selected for any of our programs not only represent the cream of Pakistan's academic community, they also serve as ambassadors for Pakistan itself. When Fulbright scholars go to the U.S. they are expected to meet a wide variety of Americans and to talk with them about Pakistan. They are also expected to learn about the American people-their hopes, their dreams, their joys, their fears, and how they see critical issues in the world as well as in ordinary life. We hope that Fulbright grantees take time to experience and enjoy normal American life, American holidays, traditions, and outings with American families. We would like them to learn about American law, politics, customs and religious traditions as they are lived by real people. When Fulbright grantees return to Pakistan, they should be able to share what they have learned and experienced with colleagues, students, friends and family.
It is important to emphasize that while a Fulbright experience will be an important academic opportunity for each individual selected, it is also intended to be an opportunity for individuals to represent Pakistan in the U.S. and to share what they have learned in the U.S. on their return.
The United States Educational Foundation in Pakistan is a bi-national commission dedicated to improving mutual understanding of the people of Pakistan and the people of the United States of America through educational exchange opportunities. The Foundation's programs focus on higher educational experiences in the U.S. and Pakistan. USEFP uses a merit based process to recruit and select grantees.
Since the conception of United States Educational Foundation in Pakistan in 1951, the Foundation has sent approximately 2775 Pakistani Grantees under various program to the U.S and 830 U.S Grantees have come to Pakistan.
United States-India Educational Foundation
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The United States-India Educational Foundation (USIEF) (formerly known as the United States Educational Foundation in India) is an international foundation dedicated to higher education in India and the United States. Its primary focal points include administering the Fulbright Program to Indian and American students, faculty and professionals; encouraging international engagement of Fulbright scholars; advising students in India of higher education opportunities in the United States; and linking higher education institutions in the USA and India. In addition to administering the Fulbright-Nehru programs in India, the Foundation also administers several Fulbright grants, including the Hubert H. Humphrey Fellowships; New Century Scholars Program, Teacher Exchange Program; International Fulbright Science and Technology Award; and the Foreign Language Teaching Assistant Program.
Headquartered in New Delhi, India, the Foundation was forged in 1950 as the "United States Educational Foundation in India" (USEFI) as the result of a 38-year agreement between the U.S. and India. In 2008, another agreement was signed which gave India equal partnership and modified the Foundation's name. Since May 2008, its executive director has been Adam J Grotsky. In February 2010, the Foundation celebrated its 60th Founding Day.[1]

The United States Educational Foundation in Pakistan has announced the world’s largest Fulbright programme in Pakistan for the 2013.
ISLAMABAD: Amid strained ties and mutual mistrust, the United States Educational Foundation in Pakistan has announced the world’s largest Fulbright programme in Pakistan for the 2013.
The US government’s flagship scholarship programme awards deserving Pakistani students full scholarships that cover tuition, textbooks, airfare, a stipend, and health insurance to complete their Master’s or PhD degrees in a field of their choice in universities across the US. Currently, approximately 369 students are studying in the US on Fulbright awards and another 200 will be departing in the fall of 2012.
According to Ambassador Richard Hoagland, deputy chief of mission, Pakistan’s Fulbright programme is also one of the oldest in the world. “Our agreement initiating the programme was signed on September 23, 1950 – and the first Pakistanis and Americans travelled each way in the same year. It was one of the very first agreements of its kind and has since been extended to 155 countries around the world.”
Since then, nearly 4,000 Pakistanis and over 800 Americans have participated in USEFP-administered exchange programmes.
The deadline to apply for the 2013 programme is May 16, 2012, and the application form can be downloaded from the USEFP’s website www.usefpakistan.org.
Correction: An earlier version of this article incorrectly put the last date to apply as March 16. This is incorrect. The error is regretted.
